Resilience, Determination, Belief
Three words that are what have made me the person I am today are Resilience, Determination, Belief. My life has been filled with a variety of disappointments and setbacks as well as many joys and successes.
I have more than a decade of experience in the realm of divorce and family law.
I have researched using professional journals, spoken at public events and I am a published author on the topic of divorce and its many issues.
I grew up lower middle class, but my family, despite its failings, loved each other.
Even though I thought I had married the perfect woman, after 15 years together, we divorced. It was not a very amicable divorce.
There were lots of false allegations hurled, most of them from her to me. Those accusations cost me my job, time with my son and ultimately my freedom.
Through the course of our divorce, I was able to disprove all of the claims made by her as false, but the damage was done.
I thought my life was over. I had lost my job, my reputation ruined and finally my son was taken away, forever.
I was in disarray and without direction.
But, with the help of many people and the passage of time, I have been able to put my life together again.
I regained my teaching career, remarried a wonderful person and found my purpose in life by trying to help others who, like me, are going through a very difficult divorce.
I am a part of this organization because I believe in people's resilience and determination to make it through the most challenging times of their lives.
I have worked in the education field for a generation. In that time, I have interacted with children of all ages and in schools across multiple states.
I have seen how wonderful they can be when given the chance to grow up in a loving and supportive environment.
I have also seen the opposite be true.
It seems a natural progression that I am now moving to become a professional counselor.
My goal is to share the years of experience both in and out of the classroom with families going through the difficult transitions that occur as divorce changes the dynamics of the family.
I urge the adults of this world put the health & wellbeing of its children first.
